Charlotte de Bekker

Hi, I’m Charlotte de Bekker, an award-winning filmmaker and creative with a passion for telling meaningful stories with depth, sharpness, and a touch of wit where possible.

FILM
With a background in Film and Philosophy from NYU Abu Dhabi and New York, I’ve worked across formats; from large-scale productions in New York to indie shoots in Berlin. I’ve learned to adapt quickly, communicate clearly, and bring strong visual thinking to every stage of a project. I specialize in creative storytelling, science communication, and documentary work. I love translating complex ideas into emotionally resonant, visually striking narratives.

PAINTING PRACTICE

In my painting practice, I explore futurism, migration, ancestry, and emotional landscapes shaped by disability. I’m visually inspired by microscopy, scientific archives, and draw from Van Gogh’s chromatic intensity, Kahlo’s mapping of the body and pain, and the precision of Dalí and Zurbarán. My paintings have been exhibited and collected internationally. I am currently represented by XVA Gallery in Dubai.

I’ve been featured for both my film and visual work on TEDx, KALTBLUT, Berlin Art Link, The Movie Sleuth and AVYSS Magazine.

I welcome commissions, collaborations, and creative partnerships. Feel free to reach out I’d love to connect and collaborate!
